Located in Independence, Missouri, the Mid-America Library Alliance (MALA) is an active consortium consisting of nearly 900 libraries or library systems in eight states. MALA was established in 1978 as the Kansas City Metropolitan Library & Information Network (KCMLIN) with a mission to “develop, coordinate, promote, and share information resources and facilitate professional development.” MALA offers interlibrary loan courier delivery service, professional development workshops and consulting.

The MALA Get Connected Courier Delivery Service provides 2-4 day delivery turnaround of library materials.

MALA Get Connected libraries save money. All materials are supplied to package your items in protective nylon bags. Libraries on the network have reported massive savings in their postage budget and the staff time required for interlibrary loan.
Efficient
MALA’s Get Connected Special Projects team assists libraries in working together in a reciprocal manner. Training and supplies are provided for all members. Professional couriers assure accurate and smooth delivery of items.
